Children of the World, Inc. has decided to support the efforts of Hands of Hope which is a small not for profit agency that provides medical assistance to residents in the small villages of Guatemala. Currently Hands of Hope is building a clinic in San Rafael. They have been operating a clinic in some form or the other for the last five years. Until Hands of Hope came to the scene, many of the residents of San Rafael received little or no medical attention. I had the pleasure of visiting Gregory and his wife Anita during my last visit to Guatemala. I was amazed at what a family with a limited budget can do. There is an old saying, "A little kindness goes a long way." On their limited budget, Gregory and Anita see approximately 65 patients per day; Approximately 800 patients per month. If anyone would like to help, please go to their site at http://www.hands-of-hope.com/. They need as much help as they can get. For every adopted child, there are many who stay behind and never have a full stomach. Some of these villagers die because they are unable to get the basic needs to sustain life. |
