FINAL TRIP TO THE CONSULATE

It is time to pick up your baby.  What do you do?  First, review your document list for the consulate visit.  You will need to bring the  following:

  • Letter of Employment
  • Affidavit of Support (I-864)(If you did not see your child prior to the adoption)
  • Last three years tax returns
  • Pay stubs
  • Employment Letter
  • The American Consulate in Guatemala now takes credit card payments for the child's visa.  IF THE CREDIT CARD IS NOT APPROVED AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS,  THE CONSULATE WILL NOT TRY TO PROCESS THE CARD A THIRD TIME.  PLEASE BRING CASH JUST IN CASE.

Travel Tips

The airlines that we recommend for travel to Guatemala are American, Continental, Delta,  and United only. We do not recommend flying Taca.  Although the airfares at times may appear to be low,  their lack of service and commitment to the customer is not worth the reduced fare.

The day and time of travel can affect the price of the airfare. Leaving a day early or late can make a difference of several hundred dollars in the price of the airfare.
